In the near future look for posts of my art - watercolor, oil, acrylic, encaustic, and mixed media. All images will be for sale on line and in my studio, slated for a summer 2017 opening.
Art is subjective - you love it or hate it - think the artist is brilliant or disconnected - either way, if it speaks to you, that's all that matters.
I began my art career in my early twenties. I took one class under the instruction of Thomas McNickle in Pennsylvania. Tom introduced me to the basics and I grew from "Keep playing with it, Karen. It will get worse," to "You did that!" In a matter of a few weeks, an artist was born.
From that moment, I began to explore deeper into the world of watercolors and without realizing, I created my own style. I moved to acrylics - first on flat work and graduated to murals. I painted on glass, slate, and wood. I toyed with oils on canvas and board. I challenged myself with pallet knives, odd brushes, and even discarded rags. Art became an expression of mood, an internal challenge, a life-freeing experience that filled me with joy.
Then, it dawned on me. I paint because it's there. It's there because I had exposure. I had exposure because I mustered the confidence to try. Do I like all of my work? Absolutely not, but it's the process that changes a person. It's the process that heals, vents frustrations, and ultimately brings joy.
Come paint with me. Come explore the inner artist you never knew existed. Find a class that peaks your interest and make a reservation. It doesn't matter if your experienced or a novice, let's explore the world of "art" together. I promise you will find joy.
